About
After working as a psychotherapist in the field of trauma for more than 25 years, in 2012, I recognised the need to reconnect with my life long love of art and joined the UAB (Urban Art Binge), lovechild of Brisbane based artists Emily Fong & Joannah Underhill. Weekly excursions nurtured a dialogic relationship with the natural world that encouraged a kind of looking that had me feeling and thinking about the world in new ways. Working in the field of body image and eating issues for several years, I needed to reconnect with the human body in a way that enabled me to shift the focus and to find a more liberating perspective. I began attending life drawing sessions as a way to reimagine ‘the body’ and in 2014 enrolled in a Bachelor of Visual Arts with QCA (Southbank, Queensland College of Art, Griffith University) in an effort to deepen my theoretical knowledge and expand my art practice. Art offers a way of looking and thinking about the world. For me Art is also a an important practice that helps me to examine my relationship with the world and other living beings. Through my work I aim to encourage creativity, joy and positivity and hope to inspire those who enjoy my work to create a peaceful and generative relationship with their bodies.
