I would like to acknowledge and pay my deepest respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors and elders, past, present and emerging, to acknowledge the deep suffering and intergenerational trauma that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have experienced through the Stolen Generation and near genocide of their people. I honour this country and the rich culture of Aboriginal art, languages and customs that continue to be restored. I hope that we can find ways to heal and work together, to listen and learn from First Nation people and begin to embody the wisdom of landscape, the spirit of the sea and the resilience of the natural world.
